Heroes of Punch is a punch competition presented by Breckenridge Distillery and Industry Denver in collaboration with Wynkoop Brewing Company and Megapath Climb for Kids for their charity drive supporting Children’s hospital of Denver and the Kempe center. Taking place on May 15th at 5:00 pm, spectators to this event can purchase tickets and grab the full event details on Imbibe Denver.

Bring on the Bourbon. The Heroes of Punch competitors were announced today on the Industry Denver Facebook page and we couldn’t be more thrilled for the lineup of heavy hitting talent coming out the throw their Breckenridge Bourbon punches down. The entered recipes were sent to Breckenridge to be judged by the distillery’s team of cocktail creatives and brand experts. Originally, our goal was to limit the competition to 10 competitors, but the 13 entries that we narrowed it down to couldn’t be cut any shorter. We are coming in close to the deadline for competitor entries for Heroes of Punch – entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm tonight (May 11). Competitors from all levels of hospitality have entered– service to management, we’ve received entries from Williams & Graham, Squeaky Bean, Central Bistro, Green Russell, and plenty more big hitting establishments. We’re not expecting this to be a walk in the park for any our competitors, there is a lot of talent on the table and much more at stake. Once we announced on Wednesday that the Hero of Punch competitors are fighting for a qualifying spot in Cochon 555 and Breckenridge Distillery’s nationally touring Punch Kings championship round, we got a big push in entries. Good luck to everybody that has submitted their recipes, and don’t wait until the last few minutes to submit… get on that shit!

This coming Wednesday May 15th, Breckenridge Distillery and Industry Denver are presenting Heroes of Punch to find out which bartender reins the punchbowl in Denver. In collaboration with a charity drive that Wynkoop Brewing Company is hosting for Megapath Climb for Kids, punch competitors from around the city will be fighting for the Hero of Punch title and slurry of super exciting prizes and trophies. Following the judging panel’s decision, our Hero of Punch will be presented with a chalice, a bottle of Breckenridge Distillery’s Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey for good measure, and we’re not done yet! Your winning recipe will be featured on Industry Denver and you will move on to represent our city in the championship round of the nationally touring Punch Kings with Cochon 555 here in Denver on June 2nd at Ace. Then, the winner of Punch Kings will be put up in a hotel in Aspen to present their winning punch at Aspen Food & Wine this summer.

Have we convinced you to stick your punch yet? We are accepting entries until Saturday, May 11th at 11:59 pm – recipes will be judged on Sunday and competitors will be announced on Industry Denver’s Facebook on Monday, May 13th. Each competitor will also be highlighted before the competition on Industry Denver and broadcasted throughout our media. Additional 2 points rewarded for entries submitted before Thursday May 9th at 5:00 pm.

For any spectators wanting to witness this punch throw-down, tickets are available through Imbibe Denver at $30 and 100% of ticket sales benefit cardiac programs at Children’s Hospital Colorado and to help heal abused children at The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect.

The presentation is a two-part event spread across two packages for you handcrafted experience. Our first presentation begins at 1:00 pm with The Three Greatest Courses in Horses. A high stakes cast of industry all-stars has designed a Kentucky style supper with three courses of culinary enjoyments and cocktails to pair.

If you can bear to pass on the lively Southern soul food presentation, we created a package for our friends to join in on the Derby culture. At 2:00 pm, the doors for the Kentucky Derby Spectator Social will open to the precession bar prior to main event entry. In the precession bar, Eden Denver will showcase the cocktails that are featured upstairs in the Greatest Three Courses. One cocktail is included in the precession bar until united with our guests on the main event floor to gear up for the greatest two minutes in sports.

On the main event floor, the Kentucky Derby will be broadcasted in two locations throughout the room, one of which is a projected screen that can be seen from around the room. Official race time is 4:23 pm, so we recommend arriving early (2:00 pm) to the precession bar for a cocktail before floor entry at 3:45 pm. Around the room, we will have a variety of fun things to eat, drink, and taste. A bar hosted with three of Denver’s most talented bartenders from the Colorado Bartenders Guild will showcase their lineup of three cocktails that have been inspired by Derby culture. Denver Dessert Trolley will showcase desserts prepared for this event and Eden Denver will be preparing their culinary specialties to keep our happy bellies full. And between spirits from Dancing Pines Distillery, Downslope Distillery, and RoundHouse Spirits, they should keep us from getting too thirsty. Breckenridge Distillery and Industry Denver have teamed up to present Heroes of Punch on May 15th at Wynkoop Brewing Company. Wynkoop-Breckenridge are hosting a charity event called Megapath Climb for Kids, which is an annual hike of Mt. Bierstadt that will benefit cardiac programs at Children’s Hospital Colorado and to help heal abused children at The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect. Heroes of Punch will up the ante to help their collaboration reach a level of excitement to get involved in the cause. The winner of Heroes of Punch will also be invited to compete at the Punch Kings Championship Round here in Denver at Ace on their final leg of the national tour with Cochon 555.
